In the Merry Month of May!

May has gotten off to the "merriest" of starts...We celebrated an anniversary, there's promise of peace in the world,  Mothers Day...just to name a few in the first week!  Aside from the first day of the month, you know your week is gonna be good when you hit midweek and spend the day in the company of good friends, and that was my Wednesday.  Kiera and Alex dropped by and we headed to Tooley's on Park for a fabulouso breakfast!

And we couldn't possibly be so close to the St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store without making a stop to check out "stuff!"  I can sum it up in one word for each of us....SCORE!  I will post pix of my finds in next week's blog.
But wait...there was more to Wednesday ~ Alex's oldest son, Eric, was chosen to participate in a leadership program in Washington, D.C. for middle school students.   So, a fundraiser was held that night at Bobo's to help Eric offset his tuition.  Who can resist homemade pancakes at Bobo's - and for such a good cause!  It turned out to be a great success for such a successful young man!

Mama Alex was selling dinner tickets and raffle tickets
I spent a good part of the week working on new inventory for MMU and my etsy shop.  Here are some darling dress form ladies I think you'll enjoy!

Thursday I was the guest of Debbie Stertz at the annual Emerge Mother's Day Luncheon at the Westin La Paloma.

This organization does amazing work for and with, women and children in need.  I was honored to be a guest and had the most lovely time.  Thank you, Debbie, for including me at your table!

I spent Friday getting ready for the most incredible time with the most incredible women at the annual "Scrap Fiesta" at Pantano Christian Church.  The event took place on Saturday from 9 a.m. until 8:30 p.m. and rather than blather on, I'll let my pix do the talking.  Some background on the event...very closed affair as their are only so many spots available.  Dear friend Geri had two openings in her group and invited Sandra Kelley and myself.  This year the theme was

Sandra says, "Peace, Love and Rock n' Roll!"
We've already moved on with planning next year ~ Theme: "The Movies" Our choice: "Alice in Wonderland!"  Bring on the Red Queen!!!

Speaking of wonderlands...I felt as though I was in the most blessed wonderland on Mothers Day.  My family gave me the most wonderful celebration.  After 11a.m. Mass, we came home to preparations underway for a special lunch.  Our girls prepared, cooked, and cleaned up the following luncheon feast:
Grilled hamburgers and hotdogs, corn on the cob, homemade baked macaroni, spring greens salad with all the trimmings, olive and artichoke plate, and cake for dessert!

Mac n' Cheese - before

Mac n' Cheese - after...YUMMY!

Schotzie with the fabuloso ensalata!
first corn of the season - SWEET!!

Our tribute to our moms, Edna (Gram) and Mary (Nanie), who celebrated with us in spirit
We miss you!!
No craft this week ~ it's Mother's Day as I write this, and this mom is pooped!  I'm off to dreamland and looking forward to the blessings of a new day and new week which begins tomorrow.  The girls are on their last day of  vacation and we'll be celebrating that tomorrow in grand style.  Not tellin' what...you'll have to come back and visit me next Monday to find out!

Look for the "merry" in your May ~ it's right in front of you...you just have to grab it!
Hugs, kisses, and SO much love!
Karen
