Swaps, Sweets, & Retreats...does it get any better???

The past week has been exciting, exhausting, and en-vigorating ~ all at the same time.  The mailman knocked more than once, with fabulous treasures from my blog friends across the states.  I'm long overdue in posting the Enchanted Hollow Bug Swap (shame on me!)  My partner was Jennifer, who created one of my favorite bugs...a butterfly!  Here she is in all her cuteness!!
lovin' the sweet little face and all the hand details
As if this little cutie wasn't enough, I received the most beautiful handmade card from Jennifer and a fat quarter of lovely material as well!!

Here's what I sent to Jennifer, who said two of her favorite bugs are the caterpillar and the butterfly...
I was inspired by Eric Carle's The Very Hungry Caterpillar - she's made from paper clay with a pipe cleaner spine

The Postman rang again and this time it was 3 amazing ATC's from the very creative and artistic Cindy from Georgia.  We were partnered for Wendy's Blissful ATC Swap for July ~ CIRCUS!  How amazing are these little creations!

Here are the cards I sent to Cindy....hmmm....seems like Cindy and I have very similar thoughts!! Great minds and all! LOL
The highlight had to be the weekend when MMU held their annual Scrapbook Retreat at the JW Marriott Starr Pass Resort and Spa.
Katie and Hoss greeted us with a very "sweet" welcome

door prizes

a lot of "eye candy"

but real candy!!

at everyone's place (and I left out the scrap goodies we got because they're out in the Studio and it's raining!)
I managed to get a lot of things made for the store...you can tell I was still on the Circus kick! I bought these lovelies at Altered Artifacts, and my sweet friend Inka threw in some charming "freebies" too!

I call this one "Pachyderm School"
And I found pool time with the fam...

Lucky me....my girls stayed overnight on Sunday so we could have a mother-daughter day on Monday!

As great as the MMU Retreat ALWAYS is, and sharing this with loving hubby and dearest daughties, I have to confess...the highlight of my weekend was the culmination of MY VERY FIRST INITIATED SWAP!!!  Yes,  I put a swap together for my scrap girls, who have patiently listened to me blather on and on about these things, but not one of them had ever participated in a swap.  Our theme was "Flea Market" and the swap was an altered 250 ct. matchbox...the BIG one.  I partnered people (I have a greater respect for administrators!!), emailed, nagged, kept tabs on everyone for a month before.  On Sunday, the last day of Retreat, we swapped matchboxes.  I was blown away by the creativity and great karma these women exuded...it was a raging success!!  We will definitely be planning on many more...here are some of the pix...
choked up with tears before I even began!

Here are some very sweet, happy, ladies ~ I think they may have been bitten by the swap bug!

Aren't they AWESOME!!  It was a pleasure orchestrating this swap and I'm so excited to have been able to see all the wonderful responses...something we miss when we swap via mail.
Oops!!  I almost forgot to show you what Sandra gifted me....

And what I gifted to Sandra...

Are you as tired as I am right now??? LOL  That's a lot "stuff" to take in, so on that note I'll just say this:
Have a simply fabulous week, enjoy every breath you take, be sure to tell someone you love them...and come back next week to find out what BIG event happened last Wednesday evening!!!

I'm So Honored!!

Hello dear blog friends!  I'm feeling very honored right now, as I was chosen for this lovely award by Tee @ Creations By Tee.
This award comes with  certain conditions.  I must reveal 7 things about myself, and then pass the award on to 8 other bloggers. They in turn, have to do the same!
OK. Here we go.
1.  I have a passion for texture, fabric, color, anything shiny, and any cake with any frosting
2.  Clutter is something I can live with for about a day and then watch out!
3.  I love re-inventing my home and surroundings ~ often inspired by blog buddies
4.  Being a "talker" is a trait I've always had ~ hence, such a blabby blog of mine!
5.  Our daughters are my daily joy.
6.  I've been married to the same man for 41 years and love him more than I did 41 years ago!
7.  I'm terrified of heights, rodents, reality rides, and 3-D movies

Well, that's my 7 and now the hard choice...passing this crown on to 8 wonderful, creative blog buddies.  So, after much consideration I hope they will accept the challenge and the award! They are....
1.  Lesley @Harmony Road Studio
2.  Mary @ Thyme To Spare
3.  Jessica @Kids Napping? I'm Scrapping
4.  Kim @ Tabby's Place
5.  Karla @ Sketchbooks ATC's Mail Art
6.  Inka @ Altered Artifacts
7.  Andra @ Ponderings Of A Crafty Mind
8.  Gerri @ It's All Treasure
Please be sure to check out the fabulous Kimberly's giveaway at ArtJoyStuff (see the link on my sidebar) It's amazing!

I've promised you some photos of other swaps I recently participated in and my partner's received their goodies, so I'm free to share them with you.
For the first time ever, I altered a spoon ~ a soup spoon, to be exact.  Here it is..
Front of spoon

Back of spoon
My creation went off, across the pond to the lovely Valerie in Dusseldorf, Germany!  In turn, she sent me these lovelies...
Her amazing package!

Lots of presents

A most beautiful spoon creation

the presents ~ including another spoon, which belonged to Valerie's  Great Aunt Fanny!
I have such a nice, generous friend in Germany. Valerie is a retired teacher, an amazing artist, and seems to create something almost every day!  Treat yourself and visit her blog: http://bastelmania-craftattack.blogspot.com/
Do you remember the fairy shoe I created a few posts back?  Well, here's the beautiful shoe I received from Kim in PA:

I have one word for Kim's fairy shoe....ENCHANTING!!  You can visit Kim on her blog at http://tabithalenox.blogspot.com  And here's the exciting news....She's giving away another one of her creations!  You have until this Friday, July 15th, to sign up.

And if all this isn't enough, well there's more.  Karla and Miss Lynn sponsored the MOST generous swap this summer...a vintage bling swap...right up my alley!
We had  to gather 20 pieces of vintage rhinestone jewelry, remove shanks, pin backs, earring backs etc.  Then attach a pendant bail.  Mail these off along with postage money and a 20 inch silver chain.  These fabulous artistic sisters did a little swappin' around with the participants and created the following ONE OF A KIND, GORGEOUS necklace for LUCKY me!
You can follow Karla and Miss Lynn on their blogs: http://backatyababe.blogspot.com/  (Karla
http://createbreathe.blogspot.com/  (Miss Lynn)

Here it is, 3:16 p.m. on Monday afternoon and I'm just getting ready to post my blog...why so late?  Well, that will have to wait for next week's blog because I don't have enough steam left to describe the INCREDIBLE weekend I had at the Making Memories Unforgettable "Sweet Shoppe Retreat!"

Next Monday I will fill you in on all the "Sweet" details, photos, and a very, very special exchange that took place ~ and took my heart!

Have a most wonderful and blessed week, dear hearts...and if you travel this week ~ travel safely.

Happy Independence Day!!

Hooray for the 4th of July!!!  I love this holiday with all its Red ~ White ~ and Blue!!  I'm reminded at different times throughout the year the joys of this wonderful country which I love so very much.  But at no time more than today, July 4th.  I hope you are all celebrating in grand style and to my friends in Canada and Germany who've sent good wishes, I say "thank you dear friends!"

A couple of weeks ago I mentioned that I would be featuring a special swap today.  That swap was with my sweet friend Mary, who lives in Cape Cod.  She suggested that we do a Patriotic Swap.  Here are the lovelies we shared...Oh,  and I'm wearing the flag pin today!
I received these fabulous treasures from Mary - the glass pebbles on the right are  shards from the  glass factory in Sandwich, MA - 1800's.

Mary sent this which will be framed and hung in the guest house.  Katherine Bates, composer,  is from Mary's
home town!
I have all my treasures displayed and just love looking at them!  Here are the goodies I sent to Mary...
Some See's chocolates as a special treat and a little butter pat (which had been on Mary's wish list for a while!)

altered wood plaque and pencil

a couple of dolls!!

and what we're MOST thankful for!
The post is short this week as I don't want to keep you from your picnics, outings, and fireworks.  Next week my blog will post in the evening as I will be out of town, at MMU's FANTASTIC retreat.  But I'll be sure to buzz you when the post is up.  I'll have A LOT to share...all kinds of swaps have been going out and coming in, so that's a hint!

A Special Giveaway!
Lest I forget, I want to let all of you know that June Yarham is celebrating a very import milestone on her blog, http://dezinaworld.blogspot.com.  She's reached 500 followers!  To add to the celebration she's having a fabulous giveaway of digital downloads: 12 shabby chic background images, 6 printable steampunk tags, 10 lovely Oriental images, and 16 French Ephemera images!!!  If June reaches 550 followers before July 15th, she will draw 3 winners rather than just one.  So, go visit June by clicking the icon at the top of my sidebar and check it out!  Amazing images for your art...all digital so you can use them again and again!

One last thing before I go...it was 10 years ago today that our dear mother took her leave from this Earth and went home...she was very ill and had greatly suffered.  So when her time came it was a blessing for her.  Today was one of her favorite holidays, and how fitting that she would pass on this day.  I know she'll be celebrating in Heaven and helping to send those fireworks mighty high.  We love and miss you, dear Mom.
